Background
The M&E and Data Management field assistant will aid the MEAL unit in data collection and analysis at the 2 project sites, assess workshops and gather participant feedback, managing data, contribute to M&E tool development, document lessons learned, update the M&E plan, and partake in project internal evaluations.

Essential Job Responsibilities
MEAL main tasks and responsibilities:
-Support the MEAL team in developing projects monitoring and evaluation methodology, activities and tools.
-Prepare projects beneficiaries registration and verification plan, onsite monitoring and post distribution-monitoring plans, and carry out the implementation of the plan with a focus on surveys implementation and data collocation and analysis as per donors’, clusters’, internal YLDF requirements.
-Ensure that the data collected and used tools are suitable for donor requirements (follow up of contractual indicators, method of calculation and collection, disaggregation as per donor requirements, identify strengths and weaknesses in existing data collection.
-Carry out the routine data collection and entry for various interventions implemented in the field according to the agreed methodology and ensure that complete, accurate, clean and consistent data and analysis report are shared with the MEAL Manager.
-Assist in the selection of samples to collect information.
-Supervise and lead the field team in the collection and enter the checklists to the database.
-Support the MEAL manager in preparing Monitoring and evaluation reports, translate documents, and ensure that reports are written in professional English.
-Document humanitarian stories that include documentation of community stories on successes registered.
-Assist the MEAL manager in conducting training and technical support on MEAL related issues.
-Assist MEAL unit in data validation and reflecting monitoring tools, surveys, and forms into open-source data tools such as (Kobo Toolbox, Google forms, ODK…. Etc.).
-Support MEAL unit in data analysis and provide the required reports with the appropriate summaries and findings.
-Support MEAL unit in creating interactive dashboards and storytelling that are related to the progress of implemented projects.
-Ensure proper filing of M&E documents including questionnaires, monitoring reports, datasets among others.
-Foster good relationships and team spirit with program and operations staff in the field.
-Perform any other M&E tasks assigned by the M&E his/her supervisor.
Data Management main tasks and responsibilities:
-Participate with the projects team in developing and implementing process and procedures for effective data management.
-Work closely with the projects team to support the design and validation of data collection tools (forms, questionnaires, etc.) and processes (assessment, monitoring, evaluation), and related data analysis tools and plans in a way to serve the project indicators.
-Ensure applying designed tools and applications in addition to donors’ tools and application for proper data management.
-Manage and supervise the data collection and entry works/teams.
-Perform and document procedures for data preparation including data cleaning, standardization and analysis. Troubleshoot data submission errors and data error issues.
-Ensure accurate and complete entry of the data collected during the registration and verification phase, PDMs and any related tasks that require data entry.
-Coordinate and check information with field locations on products.
-Provide technical assistance to field coordinators and supervisors regarding data collection and reporting.
-Compile weekly and monthly numeric achievements and ensure reporting submitted on time and to high standards
-Assist the projects team in the preparation and implementation of project activities ensuring monthly desegregated reports.
-Maintaining all documents, records and forms and submitting them on a daily basis to the direct supervisor.
-Ensure that appropriate measures are taken to prevent unauthorized access to data and data protection.
-Archiving the forms that were received soft copy and hard copies.
-Commitment to any tasks assigned and related to the task by the activity supervisor.

Qualifications, and experience required:
- Bachelor degree (preferred) in Statistics, Development studies, social studies or its equivalent experience with a formal qualification of monitoring and evaluation.
- Minimum of at least (2) years of experience in design and implementation of monitoring, evaluation, post distribution evaluation and research.
- Advanced computer skills.
- Ability to use data collection program and software ( Google Forms – Kobotoolbox ).
- Advance skills on database management, EXCEL, SPSS and other statistical packages.
- Good strategic and analytical thinking.
- Excellent English writing and verbal communication skills.
